This lodge is exceptional. The staff here make you feel comfortable and well cared for. The game drives are well organized and incredibly eye-opening. I couldn’t recommend this place more. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and it is now near the top of our most memorable experiences. I have to commend one person in particular however. If you get a guide named Petrus, you will not only get a knowledgeable and passionate guide, but you will also spend time with an exceptional human. From his commitment to customer service, to his willingness to connect on a personal level with his guests. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts for making every game drive feel like the best experience.

Stunning lodge, tastefully decorated, staff were friendly, warm and attentive, food and wine was excellent, our safari guide Mitchell was superb, incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate about the animals and reserve. A very memorable and exceptional experience.

We had been looking forward to coming here for a few years but it sadly didn’t live up to standard. The photos on the listing are outdated (taken when the property first opened years ago) The property is now looking tired and the staff in the restaurant didn’t seem to have much of a clue! Our waitress took one drink order at a time! We have stayed in much nicer and better value for money lodges in the park.
The safari however was exceptional and our ranger was outstanding in knowledge.

The rooms and overall property were beautiful. The tour guide was the best we have had in all our trips to the Madikwe Reserve. The entire staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were great.

Everything is great except the bugs that appear in your room after cleaning services at night.

Pros: The staff
The facilities
the location!
Location: Safari and eating and drinking and relaxing.
We had an excellent 3 nights at Madikwe. Our ranger JP made sure we saw lots of exciting things and were always well looked after. At Madikwe, the rangers from all the lodges all the good sightings they see over radio so everyone got to see the big stuff. They only let 2-3 vehicles near the sighting so it still feels like a private experience. Highlights included a leopard up a tree with a kill surrounded by lions, black and white rhinos, a pack of wild dogs, an elephant family munching away next to the roadside - seeing 4 of the big 5 on our first drive was pretty impressive! The facilities at the lodge are very high quality, staying in one of the smaller lodges at Madikwe I felt like staying in our own private luxury home with 2 or 3 other couples. The rooms were very well appointed with a huge bed, outdoor shower and a private plunge pool. The housekeepers also left still nice surprises when we got back from our drive. They try and make dinner different every night. The first night we had dinner as a group in the lodge, the second as a couple and the third in the bush with the rest of the Madikwe Safari lodges under the stars which was very impressive. The staff in the lodge can't be praised enough for making our stay so special.
