This is a very beautiful boutique local hotel. The rooms and hotel are accurately reflected in the photographs. The hotel reception and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel host personally walked us to a great restaurant, Runa, around the corner since we arrived late and were too tired to navigate ourselves to dinner. Little touches like fresh roses in the room, rose petals on the bed were lovely. The room's furnishings and artwork are charming and embody a historic clonial charm reflective of the nearby basilica, cathedrals, and main square. Location is excellent for walking to the main plaza, the cathedral, presidential palance, nice restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores, bank/ATM, etc. while feeling like you could observe local daily life of the people. One very nice amenity is that Byron of the hotel reached out in advance to help schedule our airport transfer to and from the hotel and helped accommodate last minute changes to our schedule. Much more convenient and comfortable that using a rideshare app. The driver was prompt, friendly, and made sure we had everything and were on time for our flight. Exceptional service. The only drawback (not the fault of our hotel) was the regional rolling power outages. I recommend bringing a flashlight if you travel during times of outages. We had power for 3-4 hours in the morning and 3-4 hours in the late evening. We were gone on excursions for most of the day time. But there was hot water for showers.

If I could leave negative stars I would. This hotel is horrible . I saw 2 roaches and something kept biting me in the bed. There were no windows in my room and due to the blackouts no fan and no air conditioning. The room was so hot I could barely breathe. When I told staff about the problems they just denied it all instead of trying to help. I showed them pictures of the roach and they said “ it’s not that room “ it definitely was. I left after one night and they refused to refund the nights I didn’t stay. They will not answer any of messages. I have never had such a horrible experience at a hotel. Please stay away !!!

Thank you for your experience at the La Basílica hotel. We are surprised to review your opinion. We appreciate that you have chosen Hotel La Basílica and we value your comments. We are always working to improve and offer a high quality and warm service, but it is difficult with guests who do not want to comply with the minimum standards of coexistence, blackmailing with a bad review, because your plane cancelled your flight and you do not want to be charged a penalty, claiming damages from the airline, inventing that there is an animal that does not exist in this region, seemed unethical and in bad taste. We regret these inconveniences, but wanting an advantage for an opinion I do not think is a correct way to proceed, for our hotel and other guests in the future. Have a good life.

Mirian runs a very tight ship and insists on showing guests around the old house. Beautifully kept, the hotel is an old house with two inner courtyards. They are covered by glass roofs which protect one from the weather but after a sunny day, leave the rooms rather stuffy at night as there is no cross ventilation. But there is a fan in the room. Laundry is available and hotel is adamant you don’t use the sinks for washing your own smalls. Breakfast provided was modest but v nice. Very clean.

There were no issues with our room - clean, everything worked, quiet, comfortable. The hotel is situated in a great location walking distance to many tourist attractions. It is a very unique and beautiful building where no two rooms look the same - you can tell a lot of effort, thought, and care went into its design and upkeep. Mirian is an excellent host, manager, and owner. She truly cares about the guests and goes above and beyond to make sure you have an excellent stay.

We feel so blessed to have stayed here. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the staff very attentive, breakfast tasty and prepared per request. A great stay in Quito.

The Very Best Quito Has To Offer: A Glimpse At Ecuador’s Culture! Best location; walking distance to numerous points of interest, warm & hospitable staff, impeccable cleanliness, historic decor & atmosphere, typical food breakfast spreads daily & knowledgeable advice about best places to eat & visit. Will recommend Hotel La Basílica without reservation.

Lovely Hotel in Old Quito

Lovely hotel in old Quito. They served a delicious breakfast each day and the staff were very helpful booking day trips and helping us with some other transport we needed. Highly recommend.

Antique property as represented. Excellent breakfast. Kind and welcoming staff. Great location. No complaints...good bed, linens, etc. I recommend.
