Thank you for your thoughts. We have the five nicest, newest, cottages in the area, unfortunately, you choose one of our legacy cottages that have not yet been renovated. We did enjoy watching you and your family using our pool, canoes, kayaks, and many other facilities.

The cottage was renovated and included bedding and towels. That was very nice. The owners were very nice as well. The stairs are very steep to get to the loft where there are 2 beds and the top stair was very narrow as well. 2 of my boys fell up the stairs. There is no railing either because at checkin they told us what was there was decorative to get the beds upstairs and not to hold on going up and down. Very little water pressure at one night we had no water at all but it came back before air went and found the owners. A chair or a small couch would have been nice to have but we made do with the table and chairs.

Thank you for your feedback, and the kind words. There is a wall on the one side to help anyone up the stairs, with the smallest amount of care the stairs were not an issue for other guests. As you are aware, there is a lovely outside sitting area, and a sitting area inside for six guests, we are researching for a couch small enough to fit. You never brought the water pressure issue to our attention. Best Regards.

Very pleasant- perhaps more description of the cottages as we had a small child and the stairs were quite steep . We did not have a lot of time on the site as we were busy with a wedding but it would have been pleasant to have chance to canoe etc. Very friendly and helpful owners.

Susan, Thank you for the kind review. You choose to upgrade, after having viewed the better, bigger cottage, for half the regular price. We even discussed the stairs, which you said were not as steep as others you know. Expedia gives very limited opportunity to describe the units, just check boxes type of description. We are glad you had a pleasant stay.

Should be kicked off Hotels.com

Posted 21 Sep 2018 on Hotels
Worst "resort hotel" ever. Arrived at 11 pm. Expected to be staying in a renovated cabin facing the bay. Nope, switched without our permission to a very old cabin back from the water. Dirty, poor upkeep at first glsmce. Way, way worse was to come... No towels. No sheets, no blankets! Front door had to be held closed with a wire coat hanger. Manager didn't answer phone, text or email. This morning, via Hotels.com, they allowed us to cancel the second night, but no other recompense. Oh, and the place was listed at $90. Then a hidden $25 fee was tacked on at check out. A dump and a scam.

Robert, We are sorry you failed to properly inform yourself. Your own words were, you were coming "very late" 9:30pm. You arrived after 11pm. Our office hours are 8am - 10 PM. You did not reserve a renovated cottage, the word "bayview" is immediately below the picture of the cottage you reserved. That unit had plumbing issues, so we upgraded you to a larger unit, with similar views. We informed you thusly 10 hours before your arrival. Like most cottages in the area, we do not provide sheets, blankets, or towels. We do provide them for our renovated units. The images provided make it obvious which is which. The $50/stay administration fee is immediately below the price. We do not control how Hotels.com presents the information. We responded to your plethora of calls, texts, and messages, immediately the next morning. We were going to provide you with what you needed, despite your very aggressive behaviour. But you decided to leave anyway.

Pros: place to dock boat
Don't let first impressions sway you away from this place. I found it to be a hidden gem. Walking into the cabin I was reminded of childhood vacations. Yes, the cabins are old and dated, but it just adds to their charm. Plus Steffen is working hard at updating all the cabins. The cabins are clean and functional. The family that runs the place are gracious hosts and are happy to help out any way they can. Having a place to dock our boat was a bonus, as well as great parking for our needs.

Thank you for the kind review. Since your stay, we have renovated another cottage, added free use of canoes/kayaks, and have plans to renovate more cottages this winter.

My only complaint is as follows:

Posted 11 Sep 2017
The place is difficult to locate in the dark. The cottage was great, the staff was great and It had a Wonderful atmosphere. Please keep in mind that this is a cottage resort not a 5 star hotel, so you have to expect outdoorsy things. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to next time!

Thank you for your kind words. We have detailed directions on our website, failing that, we have searched for, and found, lost guests after dark, just let us know you are having trouble finding us.

We used to go this place 30 years ago. the owner started rebuilding the cottages. We have stayed at the renovated cottage and it was really pleasant. The swimming pool was nice.

Thank you for your review. Every guest gets a message that we are a Marina-Campground and that our cottages are 70 years old. It was nice to see someone from home! We wish you all the best.

Great individual cottage, lack luster park

Posted 15 Aug 2016 on Hotels
We are from Sask, and Prince Edward County was recommended to us for R & R. We've never been to the region, so we were leaning on the info provided by Hotels.com, Stoneburg's website and the staff’s word. We were expecting close amenities, easy access to water, and boats (paddle and kayaks) to be ample. They weren’t. The cottage itself was clean, and pleasant. It is the closest cottage to the dock, so you got a great view of the marina. This also makes it a high traffic area so if you are looking for a quite deck to read, it doesn't really happen. We also didn’t realize how close the cottages were from each other. They are packed tightly, we were under the impression that they would be water access from here, but only from a boat. The cottage was clean, but there were items that we'd expected to be there that were not (hand soap being the biggest issue), so we had to venture out to get them. The kitchen was amply stocked. The water was drinkable, but tasted bad. If we didn't have car, this location is far removed from the other sites in the county. There isn't much near or in the park (the other cottages seems a little run down from the outside, and the only working pop machine had a number of webs on it making it difficult to access). If you go in knowing that the cottage itself is nice, and that you need to bring a lot with you, I'd recommend this stay. But if you are expecting easy access to amenities, and some quiet alone time, this isn't the spot for you.

Thank you for your detailed review. We are not a hotel, we have cottages. We told you we had only one canoe, but it is rarely used, unfortunately it was used during your stay, the kayaks were available during your stay. We now have four canoes, and they have never all been used at the same time. If you had asked for soap we would have provided it. There is a dichotomy between "quiet time alone" and "close to all amenities". There was only one pop machine, and it was brand new. We are close, less than 15 minutes, from: grocery stores, department stores, restaurants, wineries, and two beautiful beaches. There is a convenience store next door. You will not find a more beautiful, larger cottage for under $200 in the area.
