Innovation, creativity and cutting-edge research define this public university that boasts campuses with some of the best locations in central Brisbane.

Spend some time at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and see the institution that attracts some of the brightest minds in Australia.

Take a walk around the Gardens Point Campus to observe a unique blend of modern and historic architecture. Enjoy the leafy surrounds of this location that is surrounded by a loop of the Brisbane River and flanked by the gorgeous City Botanic Gardens. QUT has existed at this site in some form or other since 1849, but only achieved university status in 1988.

Get tickets to a show at the Gardens Theatre, which offers a full calendar of live performance. Choose from professional productions, student performances and interactive events for children.

Admire the heritage-listed Old Government House, a sandstone gem that is hidden away in the heart of the campus. Explore this important piece of the city’s colonial history where 11 state governors and their families once presided. The building was built in 1862 and remains beautifully preserved.

Inside Old Government House is the William Robinson Gallery. Examine the prize-winning paintings of this distinguished Australian artist and read about his inspirations and life.

Learn something new at the Science and Engineering Centre. Here children can experience the magic of The Cube, one of the biggest digital display systems in the world. Interact with the touch screen panels and find out about the amazing developments occurring in the world of science.

Get in touch with your artistic side with a visit to the QUT Art Museum. This eclectic gallery has a collection of over 2,000 works and admission is free.

If you are keen to experience more of QUT, head to the Kelvin Grove Campus to check out the Creative Industries Precinct. Experimental movies, digital installations and arts festivals are showcased here at various times of the year. This campus is about 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) north of the city and is accessible by public buses.

A visit to QUT is guaranteed to be an exciting learning experience for the whole family.
