Overall our stay the Hotel Royal William Ascend was good. A few pros and cons: Pros: - Within walkable distance to Old Quebec (20 minute walk) - Located in an "entertainment district" with several food options, nightly life, and bars easily accessible (5 minute walk) without needing to go into Old Quebec. - Underground parking available (across the street). - Spacious, clean, updated rooms. - Friendly, knowledgeable staff - Very quiet (sound proofed rooms, didn't hear anything)! Cons: - Parking was a challenge when we first arrived. There is no parking on site, it is in a garage across the street. The hotel could do a better job of advertising parking options and directing guests. - Some of the hotel/room features advertised were not accurate. There was no bottled water in the room (we had to ask for it), there was no kettle, the gym was really mediocre (it was stated as a "state of the art gym"), the continental breakfast (we only walked by) did not look worth the $15. - The between room cleanings was minimal - bedding, towels, and garages. It would have been nice if they vacuumed the floors.

Loved the decor...floors were finished...I LOVED the inroom coffee--best ever; Room was great...design won over function with the tub/shower but was still terrific. Room was huge; beds were great; lots of English as well as French tv; view was non-existent but not a lot of time staring out the window; area was very good with lots of food and coffee nearby; short walk to old city, even stairs were not bad but the elevator helped once. Can't wait to see the restaurant; could use a bit of a convenience outlet, though the old vending machine next to the ice maker was decent and inexpensive.

The property was under renovation. Even with that, our room was wonderful, the staff was friendly and very helpful… even the off-site parking was well explained by the front desk staff and not that far from the hotel. Would definitely return.

Front desk personnel is excellent!! Rooms are specious, modern and exceptionally clean. Great location. Walkable to every attraction (Old Quebec, old port, ferry to Livit). The only down side is renovation in the lobby and dining area... which we didn't know about. Despite the lobby appearance, still highly recommend this hotel.

Our room faced a dumpster. At night, there was a guy scraping the dirty. The hotel offers a parking space for 22 dollars a day, which is actually a 10 minute walk and no convenient at all. The reception is being remodeled, and there were times (many) when there is no one at the front desk.

Needs work!
Entering into the hotel to construction going on was not enjoyable but our room was nice. However with a kitchen in the room, there was no dish detergent, dish towels, sponge or even stopper in the sink. Not a very impressive way to run a hotel!
