Good hotel in Guilin

Posted 29 Sep 2016
Pros: staff are friendly and helpful. up to western standard.
Cons: light switch should be back lighted, as the switch are black and the labels do not show up well without back light. window may not be sound proof.
Location: there are many stores and restaurant nearby but room can be noisy at time.
We booked this hotel for our one day extended stay in Guilin, as we could not find a flight back to our destination after our tour. We were pleasantly surprised of the hotel, our room exceeded our expectation, and was nicer than the so called "5 star hotel" we were given for our tour. The hotel is quite new, it has a dinner room, breakfast were included. And by the way, the airport shuttle fare listed under this hotel of $20 CNY is incorrect, the hotel is quite far from the airport, about 1 hours and 10 minute by taxi, we paid $120 CNY , which we find reasonable. I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel.

Needs some work!!

Western hotel owned by a western company that does not cater to westerners. The room was hot and noisey due to construction that I was told about after I checked in, no one spoke English, mine and my friends non smoking rooms smelled of smoke (my friend found a cigarette box in his room when we came back from our tours) and the hotel is close to nothing. Oh and the breakfast...just awful. We switched hotels on our last night. If you're a group or Chinese, this is a good place for you I suppose. If you're a visitor, choose a place downtown. Even our Chinese tour guide commented that she wouldn't recommend.
