to expensive for the room you received
Posted 8 Mar 2020 on HotelsThe rooms where very small and clean, we hardly had space to put our luggage and we didn’t bring a lot. The hotel was way to expensive for what we received. Hardly any water to take a good shower. I could not wash my hair due to the amount of water that we got

Mr John is one of the best things about this hotel
Posted 22 Oct 2019 on HotelsMr John Alexander was the saving grace for this hotel because he was so helpful and friendly. The staff are friendly too and try to be helpful but their English is very limited.
The room feels a bit old, needs refreshing, for example the decorative pillows on the bed were pilling. The shower pressure was weak and it needs a good scrub. The property is nice on the outside but it’s the interior that is looking dated.
The hotel is in a peaceful part of town close to the main gardens and about 20 minute walk to the town centre.

Hello Sir (or) Madam,
Who ever it may be we pay our utmost respect for our valued guests who had appreciated the jobs in Hotel Akimomi, with the best services we could afford. Thank you for your kind review concerning with my service and also our little staffs.
Hotel Akimomi is a name which refers to a Paddy Plant. As a paddy grows up and becomes ripe, the head of it slowly bows down. So we take it as a Sign of humbleness and respect to others although its ripe and golden with full of milk it never loses integrity. And the theme of the Hotel is also from an old Samurai Village, starting from the old gates entering into it and finds the warm hospitality from its people who will serve for you with every thing that's essential. But one thing which is the most important is the value of Ancient Culture and Traditions which we keep them with great care. So our facility is indeed a property full of old fashioned designs and architectures of Old Japan. So actually It's meant for persons whom like Ancient Culture and Traditions. Anyway we do welcome everyone who wants peacefulness, quiet and serene environments.
With best regards,

Hello Sir,
I accept your review and thank you very much for pointing out the weaknesses of our Hotel that we must improve and modify at once.
The idea of the small rooms is indeed an implemented design by our Japanese Architech since it was built but we are trying to upgrade many things for the Hotel which is one of our plans to do so. The bathroom water systems are the first choice to be improved.
The breakfast is done as a precaution for persons who need to avoid salt, but there are Sauces being offered for your own likeness. Currently we had put more efforts to be done thoroughly concerning with the cleanliness for our rooms. So, for everything that is essential for various jobs involving with the Hotel will be taken care seriously in the future.
With best regards.

Great Pyin Oo Lwin Hideaway
Posted 10 Jul 2017 on HotelsThis was my second time staying at this hotel. The location is PERFECT as you're just up the road from the beautiful Kandawgyi Garden. The rooms are quite clean and it's so nice and quiet at night. If there's one complaint, I'd say the beds are a bit too hard for my liking but aside from this it's a great place. I love the morning breakfast and the super sweet and more than accommodating staff. Pan Taw Win is a great cafe across the road from this place and the hot choclate is AMAZING!

Great Stay!
Posted 5 Jul 2017 on HotelsWe had an amazing stay in this hotel. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and we loved it. A very quiet, clean and peaceful hotel. They have a nice little Japanese style garden. We could see that the staff are well trained. They wear apron and cap in the kitchen. The kitchen and wares are kept neat and clean. We could see them cleaning after the day's work from our balcony. The property is well maintained. They grew different kinds of fruits in their compound. Jackfruits, lychee, pamelo to name a few. They kept the corridors well lit throughout the entire night. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs. The hotel is located quite close to the National Kandawgyi Garden and there are many restaurants close by. The hotel itself serves Japanese sake and food. We love the tempura mushroom. The hot pots can be improved though. The soup has been absorbed by the many ingredients in the pot. The fried mixed vegetables is too oily for our liking. Coffee can be stronger. We brought the nescafe packets provided in the room to add in. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Maymyo aka Pyin Oo Lwin.

Not bad, not great, but more than adequate.
Posted 8 Jun 2017 on HotelsWelcome at Akimono was lackluster. We had to carry our bags from our car into reception before we were met by staff. From that point on the welcome was warm and effusive. I always appreciate th warm greeting which is typical in Myanmar.
The room itself was very simple but adequate. Because of the grounds and surroundings in Pyin Oo Lwin, there were a few creepy crawlies, but nothing too awful.
Breakfast was the most disappointing. They were very few options and the presentation was not great.
The grounds of the hotel we're covered with beautiful few fruit trees. There were a jackfruit, rambutan, lychee, and even peaches! This was a lot of fun and made for a really cool exploring on the territory.
I understand that the hotel has a Japanese theme. Unfortunately it gives a survey of bifurcated personality to the hotel. The staff, architecture, and overall feel of the place was definitely local. But there is a Japanese restaurant (which we did not try) and a sort of half hearted Japanese garden.
Would we stay here again? Probably not. If there were nothing else available then I would. But I would not go out of my way to book a room here again.

No shower.
Posted 1 Jun 2017Perhaps our was broken but it was simply a small and low hand held with no pressure that barely let out a drip. We had to 'shower' in the sink. Room smelled powerfully of mothballs. Staff was great.
