"We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Kobe Suites. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. It is a well-designed hotel on the best stretch of beach in Watamu which is also part of the nature reserve. When we dined in, the food and drink was excellent and moderately priced. "

"Visited off season the hotel was very quiet and the main pool was closed for refurbishment. If I had known I would have cancelled my booking. The check in staff focused on my wife giving her all the info and the bill, which I thought was odd but not a deal breaker. The hotel room was good size with ample space, 2 glass bottles of water per day was provided. The aircon in the room was faulty but it was repaired to working but we did feel the difference. "This hotel has amazing potential and was probably once quite grand. The facilites are tired and in need of maintenance and updates. We were there out of season so it was very quiet and the staff seemed a little challenged in knowing what to do. The beach is great and the grounds are super. I would stay here again but I’d check my room and test the shower before settling on my room. "

"This was the WORST hotel experience we've ever had. 1) The beds do not have any foam so basically you lie on a piece of wooden board. Literally. We actually checked. It's the most uncomfortable surface (including couches and floor) that I've slept on. Apparently all rooms have the same type of bed fyi. Hot water is unreliable, most of the times we had to shower with cold water. Wifi in the rooms is very bad, we mostly couldn't stream any movies in the room due to bad wifi. 2) Staff is very...

"The property suffers from significant underinvestment, leading to a noticeable decline in standards. It is poorly maintained and desperately in need of an overhaul. The bedroom facilities are outdated and deteriorating, with crumbling fixtures and old infrastructure, such as hairdryers, that have long since broken and been removed. The towels are old and fraying, adding to the sense of neglect. The bathrooms are in dire need of renovation; they are unacceptable for a hotel of this calibre. It seems the hotel owners have heavily invested in the adjacent luxury tower, leaving the original hotel neglected and in disrepair. The high ratings could be for the luxury tower next door, owned by the same group. That said, the beach is exceptional, truly one of the best."

"Loved the staff and our room was nice and cool. The restaurant Licht Haus was gorgeous and the food was delicious! Also, loved the little shop by the restaurant and we got several lovely pieces of jewelry. I especially loved the humane/gentle way of dealing with little adorable monkeys that like to steal snacks. No weird violent pest control methods that I might see in my home country (the US) and I really appreciated that, and I say that as someone whose chocolate croissant was snatched by a monkey. Don't worry, the monkey left the fruit and my phone! "
