Laze on warm sands and go for long coastal walks at a popular beach in one of southern Spain’s most glamorous resort towns.
Soft, golden sands, calm water, great views and a beautiful boardwalk draw visitors to Puerto Banús Beach. This sandy sanctuary is also known as the Playa de Levante and extends for approximately 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) beneath the shadow of La Concha mountain. Spend a few hours or a whole day relaxing here by the cool waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Rent a parasol and sun lounger or just roll out your towel on the sand. Get some exercise with a stroll along the coastline and then splash around in the sea to cool off. Stop by one of the beach bars (chiringuitos) for some drinks and a meal under the sun. Choose from fresh seafood platters, pizzas, salads, burgers and more.
Go for a walk on the promenade which covers the length of the beach. Along the way are several play areas for children. If you are here during the summer, browse the stalls of the craft market.
Consider extending your walk by taking the wooden footbridge that crosses the Rio Verde. Pause to spot wader birds among the river’s reeds. From here you can go all the way along the seafront to Marbella, approximately 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) away.
Close to the bridge is the Rio Verde Roman Villa, a late 1st-century home. While most of the building hasn’t survived the centuries, parts of the walls and gorgeous floor mosaics remain. They depict household objects and Medusa's head, a mythological monster with snakes instead of hair.
Puerto Banús Beach is located next door to Puerto Banús Marina. If you’re driving find street parking and paid parking garages in the area. You can also get here via ferry and bus services from Marbella. The beach is equipped with showers and toilets and lifeguards are on duty during the summer.
After your visit to the beach go over to the marina to browse the shops and dine in one of the bars or restaurants.
