Good location

Posted 13 Apr 2017
Pros: Clean, secure, charming old world lobby and cafe.
Cons: Rooms small and dated. Fully priced.
Location: Right near the square. A few steps to bars and restaurants.
Lobby has old world charm, but rooms are small and dated, though clean and in good condition. Two elevators, and a medium sized (read, much larger than the others I've seen in this price range) breakfast buffet are pluses. Fairly quiet, very close to the main square, on which I recommend restaurant La Querencia.

OK Place

Staff spoke no English and were not very friendly or helpful. Of course I speak very little Spanish but in a tourism related area, some English would be great. At least friendly. Went to another hotel around the corner to get help on transportation, and things to see and do. Hotel is in a good location in town but a good distance from airport and bus terminal.

Small cramped rooms

Posted 20 Feb 2014
Pros: Location is okay, there is international bus stops a few blocks away.
Desk clerk asked if we'd like a double bed and then gave a room with two twins. Rooms are barely big enough to walk between beds, contain an old mini fridge that is noisy, window looks out onto a wall, and bathroom shower is very small and cramped.

Mystery Hotel From Hell

Posted 30 Oct 2011
We should have realized there was a problem when we asked directions from neighbors a few blocks away in this sleepy town who had no knowledge of the hotel. The place was huge but largely vacant. It obviously had seen better (possible good) days. Though it indicated on the web page (and on its front door) that it took Mastercard, the checkin clerk said "only Visa." When we turned on our room light, the entire second floor lights went out. The room balcony railing, looking to the river, was wholly rotted and and an extreme danger. As we passed through the lobby again to the diner, we saw a large frog under the couch. A large sociable cockroach like insect visited us at dinner. Other than that, it was a comfortable stay.
