There’s plenty to see before the sun sets and you go for an evening stroll through the port. Embrace your inner Indiana Jones and head to Castro de Dorró, an old fortified settlement that dates back to the Iron Age. Afterwards, make sure you don’t miss the burial monuments and the late Neolithic tombs that can be found in Chan da Gorita.
Another option is to climb Monte Faro, a large hill where you’ll find the remains of a necropolis, also from the late Neolithic. Take advantage of the incomparable natural surroundings as you enjoy a pleasant walk or take a picnic under the trees.
Finally, the architectural site at A Lanzada is also a must-see. It’s perfect if you’re interested in seeing not only tombs from the third century AD and an ancient castro fort, but also a beautiful hermitage that dates back to the 12th century and the remains of a fortress built in the 10th century on the orders of Bishop Sisnando II to protect the town from frequent attacks by pirates.
