Location was great. Room had an ensuite. $95. Very unclean, pillows and mattress protector badly stained, clean top sheet stains, cobwebs even near bed, smelly entrance and room, rusty noisy fans etc

100% recommend
Posted 18 Aug 2020 on HotelsTo start with, Port Douglas is SO beautiful and I highly recommend visiting. My partner and I are frequently using hostels and Global backpackers is definitely up there with the best. The check in was smooth and Clara was really efficient. She gave us a quick tour and the hostel has good space to chill as well as a good size kitchen and amenities. Laundry was cheap and the hostel also offered an amazing Meal deal for the bar next door (great food too). Our room was a double with an en suite which good air con and a TV! The bed was comfy, although slightly short for my 6'2 partner but we managed fine and it didn't effect his sleep. We ended up staying an extra night and would 100% go back. Thank you!

Would stay again!
Posted 20 Mar 2019 on HotelsVery clean, spacious dorm room. Hostal is centrally located which is nice to get out for a walk. Would definitely stay again if ever back in Port Douglas!

Pros: Chosen because it offered a budget-priced ensuite room.
Cons: A small fridge in the ensuite rooms. This would take pressure off the over crowded kitchen fridges.
Location: We enjoyed the Sunday market, the train trip to St Crispins for lunch, the walk up Flagstaff Hill via the closed track, and pleasant shopping.
Handy to the main shopping area with limited parking but the cheapest ensuite accommodation we could find. Value for money but the communal kitchen is not kept clean by the guests who use it, so dishes pile up before staff come to clear up. Guests seldom wiped up the cooking area. Most of the guests seemed to be permanents on work visas.

Clean, well located backpackers
Posted 11 Mar 2018 on HotelsIt’s a backpackers for sure, but we booked a double room ensuite. Came with towels and bedding, just bring your own soap. Well equipped shared kitchen, super close to al ost everything. Great discounts and meals at Rattle’n’hum resto downstairs. Clean and well cared for property, friendly guests.
