On account of the arrival delay in the airport, when I came in the hotel lobby after midnight, there was no person working on the front desk.

Dated exterior but decent interior and location

What ever happened to hospitality?
Posted 3 Feb 2024 on HotelsSadly, the D'Wharf has forgotten that hotels are in the business of hospitality. Instead of being greeted and welcomed, guests are told that check in is at 3pm but they will make an exception and allow 1:30 pm. Pay 50 MYR and you can get it two hours earlier. It matters not that we arrived tired after a morning of cycling and assured them that we would leave the next day by 7:30 am. It is not that there was no room available, the hotel was barely occupied, but policies are set in stone and a warm welcome and providing comfort to guests is not a priority. Better that the room sits vacant, that guests stand around and watch the clock click by, than allow the use of the room. We also wanted a room with one bed, of which there were countless available, but that required an upgrade, and again the comfort of the guest took second place to "policies". The lack of concern for guest comfort starts with the check in procedure, and continues with the near threadbare towels to there being no lounge chairs around what is otherwise a nice pool. You should also ignore the peeling paint on the outside, glass wall railings that have not been cleaned. The rooms are a good size and were they not made of concrete, I am sure management would have found a way to make them smaller to reduce costs.

Property common area look rundown but the room was really clean and comfortable. Facilities like pools, playground and gym are decent. Gym is well equipped. Breakfast was good too. Nothing much within walking distance but there are a couple of fast food joints and 24hrs mart.
