Very convenient to train station

Posted 31 Jul 2013 on Hotels
Salvatore was very helpful and always available. Being close to the train and using his advice, we were able to get to all the places we wanted to very conveniently. The eastern entrance to Pompeii Ruins was an easy walk. He also recommended some good restaurants, from the inexpensive pizzeria around the corner to the lovely garden Todisco. Our only objection was having to move to another hotel for our fourth night but Salvatore handled everything very nicely. (He said that our room had already been booked for that night, but it did not show that on line at hotels.com)

Close to the train station, and ruins.

The owner of this B&B was so incredibly helpful. We needed to go from Pompeii back to Rome the next morning, in order to catch a plane from the Rome airport in the afternoon. As soon as we got to the hotel, the owner not only checked us in and helped carry out luggage, but he made all the arrangements for us, including buying the train tickets online, finding information on connection in naples, arranging a taxi, and giving us restaurant recommendations. Our long journey the next day went off without a hitch. He made our stay in Pompeii unforgettable

Character Hotel with an excellent location

Posted 28 Mar 2013
The location is excellent! The hotel was within a few blocks of the Termini station where our train arrived from the airport. It is also where all buses and subway trains depart to go around Rome. There are places in the station to eat, shop, buy food and get an Italian Cell phone SIm card. There are also lots of good restaurants close to the hotel. Location is so important when we travel. The area is older, but lotsof people and never felt unsafe. The hotel was in great condition - the bed was super comfortable, the staff helpful, the room compact but clean...no frills. That said there are little quirks like teeny elevators and a tile floor in the hallway that echoed when someone walked down it at night. But there was no traffic noise because our room faced the courtyard. Noise was only a bit of an issue there one night because someone was having a St. Patrick's day party across the courtyard. That said, I have never stayed in a big city,'character hotel' and not had some noise... so just bring your ear plugs... Breakfast was typical continental style - adequate enough until you can get out and buy a mid-morning snack..

easy access to places of interest

Our stay was very enjoyable, our room comfortable, clean and very quiet and Salvatore No. 1 looked after us exceedingly well! Our breakfasts and chats on the rooftop terrace will never be forgotten! Pompeii ruins, Herculaneum, Naples, Sorrento and Amalfi all within easy reach using the circumvesuviana trainline. Many restaurants and bars all around as well as shops and atms. Will definitely return soon.

Bed and breakfast Dolce Vita, Pompei

Posted 11 Oct 2011 on Hotels
Hotel is very convenient for the centre of town and only a short walk from the train station. Standard of the hotel is good - very clean with a reasonable size room and small balcony overlooking the street. Salvatore the owner was very helpful in giving good advice and recommending activities and places to eat. He arranged tickets for the bus trip to Vesuvius, a great trip if you're up for a bit of a hike up to the crater. A couple of downsides: the owner doesn't live on the premises so when we arrived and rang the bell outside (no reception desk) there was no reply. There is a number to ring and the shop owner over the road came to our rescue and rang Salvatore. If you know what time you expect to arrive let the owner know in advance so he can be there. Also, we thought we had made the booking using a credit card but he can't accept credit cards so we had to go to the bank to pay by cash. Fine if you can do that but it would be helpful to know before you arrive. Overall very satisfied with this as a base for exploring Pompeii ruins, Vesuvius and Herculaneum.

The ruins of Pompeii

Posted 31 May 2011 on Hotels
The B&B was within walking distance to the ruins with lots of trattorias and restaurants in close proximity - the proprietor was very nice and although he did not speak a lot of english we used google translate (seemed to be his favourite app). We were treated very well and would not hesitate to return to this B&B
