The best is the spectacular view and this unbatable touch of nature . This is the best resort hotel that captures the most beautiful scenary of the Parakrama Samudra. The staff is super friendly , goes beyond a help , to give the guests a homely feel , security , safelty , love and affction of a family. Randika and his fellow staff members are very helpful and always takes care of their guests all the time. We would love to visit again and again to this place. The building seems to be pretty old but as guests who are in love with ancient things , it was just perfect for us. Walks towards the lake , witnessing wild elephants in a very clise vicinity , all were bew exereinces to us. Thank you "The Lake" hotel (also known as Echo Lake , The Lake , Seruva) , we will visit you soon again before your refurbishment.

The hotel isn't the swankiest but it's in a lovely location next to the lake and grazing land, with panoramic vistas. Our visit coincided with a group booking of Sri Lankan hotel staff who were treated to an evening of live and very loud music, from which there was no escape - but this is an unusual occurrence. Normally it would be a nice, quiet sanctuary away from the hubbub of Polunnaruwa but still only a short distance from the historic sites.

Service very good but was disappointed by the upstairs room having no balcony. Better to be on the ground floor.
View of the lake at sunset fabulous. Sadly no elephants when we were there.
Also the pool was closed and had been for about two weeks. This seemed to be because the hotel was quiet as when we left a large party arrived and they were cleaning the pool.

Would recommend staying here!
Posted 18 Jan 2019 on HotelsAMAZING! Nice hotel with plenty of staff. Food and drinks were good. Best part was the pool overlooking the lake and the elephants that came up 5 meters away from us on two separate occasions to feed. A walk or short tuk tuk away from ruins, hotel help us arrange bicycles for the day to see the ruins.

The view of the lake is what made this place special. From the room, the pool ,and the restaurant the views was fantastic. The menu in the restaurant was a little limited but overall it was a great stay
