Nice hotel close to the beach

Pros: The location
Cons: None
Location: The Blue Lagoon and other attractions.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel Mariela in Polis, Cyprus.

Nice value, walkable neighborhood
Posted 15 Dec 2017 on HotelsWarm welcome in the quiet offseason with great offseason pricing. Kitchenette has lots of counter space and equipment. The room was very spacious, a good spot to unpack and repack. Furnishings and look a little dated, but all functional. Manager very friendly and helpful with area information.

Pros: Despite its town centre location it was quiet and had plenty of secure parking.
Cons: All room fixtures, fittings and furnishing.
Location: Polis is a sizeable town and generally unremarkable but it does have a quaint central old town area within easy walking distance from the Mariela.
Hastily booked for 4 nights owing to places becoming scarce for the time we wanted in the wake of the Monarch collapse. Reviews of the Mariela were overwhelmingly good and not just of the 'owners friends' type. The price was very low so our expectations were not high but even so, Mariela was disappointing. It could be that Block C apartments were of a different standard from those in Blocks A and B but we didn't stay long enough to find out, leaving after one night.

Pros: Attentive Owners. Great location, Polis lovely old town center with lots of good restaurants.
Location: Small rocky Aphrodite cove our favorite, and mountains, Makarios tomb @ Kykkos Monastery. A rough expensive Adonis baths. Old Kato Pathos - brilliant
Had a lovely holiday in Mariella apartments in Polis and its surrounds. The owners were amazing, seemed to be available on hand 24 hours a day and obviously very well known to their regular clients.
Expedia's description of the facilities in this hotel is wrong as there were no tablets or cabled internet or dvd in apartments but at such a reasonable cost I really wasn't expecting any. It also was a least an hour from Pathos. The apartments and public areas were as expected - a bit shabby and could do with a really good deep clean and spruce up. However, the facilities were adequate for our needs, and in fact I was pleasantly surprised we had a TV and hairdryer along with plenty of (UK 3 pin) plug sockets. The sheets and towels were tidied every day and changed several times during our week there and we noted housekeepers very hard at work cleaning windows etc.

For the price we paid the apartment did it's job, the room was basic but clean and tidy, as it was out of session it was also quiet which suited us. I booked a family room as we where there for a biking weekend and the room had plenty of space to accommodate these

Central to town and close to beach

Pros: Friendliness of owners. Convenience for town centre facilities.
Cons: Decor refreshed and more comfortable patio chairs.
Location: Hotel is central to town with supermarkets, restaurants and shops within a 5 minutes walk. Polis beach is a 15 - 20 minutes walk or 3 minutes by car.
Our room was very basic and this is reflected in the price we paid. However, the owners make you feel very welcome and our room was cleaned daily, except Sundays, and bed linen and towels were changed regularly.

Pros: Just about everything
Cons: TV only had local channels in Greek.
Location: Great location, in centre of town round the corner from a huge supermarket that had everything like a walmart in the USA.
Very spacious room with balcony, they even gave me a welcome drink and let me check out much later since I had a night flight!
