A HIDDEN GEM
Posted 31 Jul 2018 on HotelsAlthough only a two star rated hotel, and because of this only requesting a 50c. per night accommodation tax, the Sofia has a big plus in that guests have access to a swimming pool and snackbar/drinks bar area which is part of the Sofia apartments unit just down the road. As the hotel is family - run, the lady on reception also cooks breakfast, offering a good range of continental -style foods and also freshly cooked eggs, which can either be eaten in the dining room or in a cool open-air central courtyard. My balcony, although small, overlooked the pool area and the room had a very smart green-tiled bathroom. The hotel is very central in Plakias and easy to find : there is a good supermarket opposite.

Bait and switch.
Posted 11 Sep 2017 on HotelsBait and switch. As I arrived they told me they were taking me to their "family hotel" which was a few blocks away and the room was not even a 1 star level. Water was cold- freezing cold. And the hotel owners were not even apologetic nor did they admit that they oversold heir hotel.

Central Hotel in beautiful Plakias

Pros: The breakfast is excellent with good choice along with indoor or outdoor tables. The freshness of the decor still appears newly done.
Cons: The en-suite is also beautiful but rather small with little room for toiletries and an ill fitting shower curtain.
Location: Ideal for beach, cafés, restaurants and shops. A good centre for touring the area by car. Regular boat and ferry trips are also close at hand.
The Sofia Hotel underwent a major refurbishment in 2009. The Hotel is beautifully decorated with appropriately styled artistic adornments.

Sofia Hotel a quiet well run hotel
Posted 14 Aug 2011 on HotelsRoom was clean and reasonably comfortable. With a balcony overlookinf a green space with lots of cats. Breakfasr fine. Staff always helpful and polite. Watch out for slamming doors if you leave your balcony door open as the wind in Plakias is strong.
