Shower drain blocked, 2 days, not even an apology.
No cooked breakfast included, no prices on any food menus. On arrival we were told only booked for 1 person and had to pay extra £40.
I would Not recommend this hotel although the Kinloch hotel just up the road was where we ate and the ambience was excellent, the staff told us they had heard a good few people complaining about the dunalister, I don't normally write reviews but I'm so unhappy about our experience I thought I would hopefully help someone avoid this place.
We were meant to be celebrating our engagement but we've booked another hotel for tomorrow so we will try and put the dunalister behind us and pls remember it's not a cheap hotel, we were so disappointed. If your looking for a Scottish experience then the dunalister is Not it,

Manager said continental breakfast included. Next morning, while dining, she rudely tried to collect 8.95 lbs from each of us. We had yogurt and coffee, then left.

Beautiful property, but total lack of character.
The library has no books, games or a bar to speak of. It is a grey room with grey couches and terrible elevator music. As soon as you walk in, the only thing on your mind is “how can I excuse myself out of this room?”
The restaurant serves decent meals, but they are overpriced and the dining room is perhaps the most boring room I have ever sat in.
It’s really too bad because the property is located in an area of Scotland rich with history and folklore, yet all common areas of the hotel are hollow and void of life.
Every piece of art on the wall looks like it was generated by first generation AI told to spit out variations of “monochrome overlapping geometric shapes” and “black blotches on white background”.
Perhaps these are all petty criticisms, but the hotel is a disturbingly boring place to stay.
If all you’re after is a clean room and nice smelling soap, this is your place!
If you’re after a nice place to spend a weekend, look elsewhere!

Hello LindenThank you for taking the time to leaving us your review.We appreciate that you found the property beatiful and wanted to inform you about a few aspects that you might have misunderstood or misinterrepted. The library is not an actual library, The library is an exclusive use restaurant that is called the library and is on the other side of the hotel that needs a member of staff to accompany to get access to (which i do not believe you went there). As per the paintings on the walls, these are not painting, these are pictures taken by our local lovely photographer Ian from the shed gallery which we support and he displays in the hotel. Regarding the lounge and restaurant, we have a quite and relaxing atmosphre that we had spent time and effort to achieve to make sure that our guests when arriving they could be as comfortable and relaxed in the luxurious institute that we pride ourselves of being.Again thank you for leaving your feedback.
