There is a fee to rent the tents for the day. Note that the ocean is calmer at low tide, when charming pools of water full of colorful fish emerge. Bring snorkeling gear for close-up glimpses of the aquatic life here. At low tide, you can walk quite a distance before the water reaches knee height. Discover the network of coral reef, around which many types of marine creatures thrive.

Pitinga Beach is in the Arraial d’Ajuda area in the northeastern part of Brazil. It is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) south along the coastline from Porto Seguro. Walk south for around 10 minutes from the large beach resort of Mucugé, which cars can also reach via a dirt road.
