This property was a welcome surprise. It exceeded our expectations for value including the quality of the room, the overall property as well as the vast options offered for the free breakfast. We will certainly visit this hotel again.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The lady at the front desk was very kind. We got to the hotel much earlier than the check in time cause my daughter was exhausted from our early morning kayak tour, and the lady at the front desk was compassionate and let us check in early!

Somewhat older hotel with good updates and attention to detail. Closest one to Chincoteague beaches etc.

Peaceful stay

We arrived early and checked with the desk to see if a room was ready and they graciously let us check in early. The staff was super friendly and we had no issues with the hotel or staff. Breakfast has several options every day and the staff makes sure everything is full, hot, and clean. Our room was listed as a room with a view of the lighthouse. This is the only thing I would change as there is a tree that is right on the edge of the property of the hotel and museum that blocks your view of the lighthouse. Had we been first time visitors to the island that might have been more disappointing, but the view of the refuge is still beautiful from the balcony.

Unfortunately, we had an interaction with a staff member that was unprofessional and extremely unpleasant. She exhibited aggressive behavior, and we were not treated with respect.

Hello Gretchen, I am sorry regarding your experience with my staff. I hoped my response to your email would help explain why my staff was proactive in their interaction with you. Since we do not allow pets, it was a concern hearing a dog barking in your room. Full communication at check-in would have made the interaction unnecessary. We wish you the very best and apologize.

The staff was incredible, pool was lovely and the room was comfortable and clean. Will definitely stay again next time we visit
