"We arrived at 1530, for a 1700 check in and the hotel was utter chaos. Cars everywhere on the ramp causing congestion with no way past. Eventually got into the car park and lugged all our stuff into reception by 1545. The reception area was like a zoo. Bags, skis, and people everywhere. We were eventually seen and told our room would be ready in 30 minutes and to go back. 30 minutes later, I went back and was ignored by 4 receptionists who just kept walking past. "Cogne is simply beautiful. Small enough to be charming, big enough to stay busy and entertained. The Chateau Royal was a great home base. Centrally located, comfortable and we'll equipped. We originally booked two nights but added two more as it was such a great village with so much to do. We hiked, fished, rafted and paraglided plus catching some of the abundant castles and forts in the Sister Valley). This one is a do-over (we'll be back:-)."
