Hall to connect hotel to pool closed. Who wants to walk outside in cold? Breakfast options Very limited for price

We stayed at Homewood Suites on September 7th. Need to use the sofa bed for the kids. Requested bedding for the sofa bed 3 times and kept waiting. My wife had to go to the front desk and bring the bedding herself. Make it worse, the room did not have any phone!
When went to the bathroom to take a shower, body soap container was empty; again, my wife had to go to the front desk and get it by herself.
Front desk supervisor said they will refund our stay for the inconvenience but since the reservation was through Expedia, the request has to be made by Expedia. Today I was informed that Expedia contacted them and the hotel is denying any refund.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, it was very clean.
