During my stay at Mbizi Bush Lodge, I was genuinely impressed by the exceptional quality of service and the overall experience. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this was no ordinary lodge; it felt like a home away from home, where the staff welcomed me as if I were a part of their family. The service at Mbizi Bush Lodge was truly five stars. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. Whether it was the warm smiles that greeted me each morning or the personalized touches that made my room feel so inviting, the team at Mbizi excelled in creating a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. They were attentive without being intrusive, always ready to assist with any request or provide recommendations for making the most out of my stay. This level of care made a significant difference, elevating the entire experience to something extraordinary. The culinary offerings at Mbizi Bush Lodge were nothing short of spectacular. Each meal was a delightful journey through flavors, crafted with care and expertise. The chefs clearly have a passion for what they do, as every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, vibrant tastes. From hearty breakfasts to elegant dinners, the food was consistently of the highest quality. It wasn’t just about eating; it was about savoring every bite in the serene, natural surroundings. Dining at Mbizi was an experience in itself, one that I looked forward to every day. One of the most remarkabl

Great lodge, excellent hosts!

Posted 27 Dec 2019 on Hotels
This is a small lodge with only 4 huts, so it's a wonderful experience if you want to escape the Kruger crowds. Accommodations are comfortable and well maintained. Food is amazing; home cooked with a fantastic attention to detail. Owners are friendly and engaging. Highly recommend taking the optional game drive with the owner; you won't regret it. Overall a great value for the money!

Luxury in the Bush

Posted 21 May 2018 on Ebookers
Pros: Decor, food, outdoor pool, views, private bungalows. Everything!!!
Location: Day safari, night safari, river safari. Walk in the bush. Phalaborwa is within 20 minutes drive, with activities to keep you busy for a week !
A remarkable find very close to the Kruger National Park, run by a lovely Danish couple with tremendous attention to detail. Everything was immaculate. Excellent service. Just an amazing experience. Cross animals (water buck, impala, lots of birds) just on my 3km drive in to find the lodge which is situated on a private game reserve (Grietjie). This operates as a collective of 100 members who undertake serious efforts for conservation, while providing a livelihood for the community.

A secluded lodge in the wild

Posted 28 Sep 2016 on Hotels
The owners really put in the extra effort to make your stay at Mbizi a special experience. The breakfast and dinner everyday is such an enjoyment, especially after a spending a day at Kruger. Michael provides you all necessary information you need to know about the surrounding areas. The guest house is in a private game reserve and is not fenced. Michael will escort you between your private hut and the main lodge. To get there from the main road you do need to drive on a dirt road for about 15 mins -- the google map navigation is also not very accurate. Remember to take the Grietjie Gate entrance.

Pros: Everything
Cons: The last stretch of road into the lodge is a bit bumpy ... if you are hiring a car, keep in mind, you are driving into the bushveld!
Location: The main gate to Kruger National Park in Phalaborwa is less than an hours drive away - Visit Oliphants Game Reserve in the Park...
WOW! What a fantastic experience. This is a small slice of Paradise in the African bush near Kruger National Park. The setting is absolutely perfect and there are only 4 chalets so it is exceptionally exclusive and very special. Mette & Michael were fantastic hosts, always available if you needed, always happy to take you out on a Game drive (we saw a huge amount of wild life VERY up close and personal - there was an elephant drinking from the swimming pool one day!! - and one evening we were invited for a quick drive around the grounds as some very rare African Wild Dogs had been spotted - Michael managed to find them ..... just as the sun was setting! What really made this place special was the food! Wow!! It is absolutely world class and we adored the little 'African' twists every night at dinner. The Impala Steaks with a tomato relish and the Chocolate and Amarula mousse were one of the highlights of the holiday!! Mbizi lodge offers a true African experience at exceptional value for money

The time we were able to spend in Mbizi Lodge was just insane. Bjorn and Divya are such great people and excellent hosts. The morning and evening drives with Bjorn are unforgettable moments. We learned so much about the animals and about South Africa. The food was the best we had at our whole South Africa trip. An absolute recommendation!

located in a private nature reserve, no fences. Excellent food and very friendly owners. Getting in and out the nature reserve is a bit awkward due to long interrogation procedures at the gate.
