"We wanted to find an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle while we were in Mexico so we opted for Kapok based on its reviews. Unfortunately, I walked away ~50 bites. We noticed substantial amount of orange stain on the bottom of the curtain and bed sheet- the part that’s tucked under while the bed is made. I really wish we googled it right then to realize it’s pest stain. We expected some discomfort while being there, but pests weren’t a part of it. Bites on our body kept popping all over...

"Beware! The only property access is a STEEP 200 metre cowpath over tree roots would be dangerous in rain. There were no clear signs Had to drive on that to go back to Bacalar, 25 km. away. Or room was in a building across from the gated facilities on the beach. We were not allowed to use the beach chairs, kayaks etc. Nor was there any breakfast or coffee available for purchase. The person that let is us in did not explain the access to the beach facilities. Nor did she offer contact info...

"The cabin was well-equipped, even luxurious, with a great view. Esmeralda, our cook and staff person, couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The grounds are peaceful with great bird watching. We kayaked every day and did yoga on the screened in porch. I was so happy we decided to pass by here! It was restorative and relaxing, with great affordable meals. Thank you!"
