I talked to the staff to my booking to arrive two days later, and they said they’d contact Expedia to take care of it on my behalf. They then charged me for those nights, and informed me that I would have had to contact Expedia myself, and that they could not do anything themselves. I did then write to Expedia, and they requested the hotel reimburse the canceled nights. The hotel then refused Expedias request to reimburse. I have written evidence of this in hotel computer records. I found out from one of the staff that the Marriot charges local staff personally from their salaries for these kinds of chargebacks, and that is why they fight so hard against customers. Especially since $200 is a large amount for a local Thai salary. Very exploitative labor practices, and disconcerting to find out that this may be happening on a global scale.

I have stayed in this many time in the past 10 years or so. It’s a great place to stay with great staff.
