Discover the modern city of Pasay during your trip to Metro Manila. Come here for a huge shopping and entertainment complex, superb views of Manila Bay and lots of family fun. Many of Metro Manila’s cultural attractions can also be found here, as well as some of the best places to relax in the region.
From the 12th century Pasay flourished as a trading city and was connected with merchants from around the world before it was colonized by the Spanish in the 16th century. Modern Pasay has thrived as a city since independence was established in the Philippines in the 20th century.
Two sites dominate tourist itineraries in Pasay. Head to Manila Harbor to visit the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Take your seat for orchestral, dance and jazz performances in the National Theater, which features several auditoriums. Admire paintings and sculptures by local artists in the Bulwagang Juan Luna.
The second major attraction is the SM Mall of Asia Complex. This vast space incorporates a music hall, bowling rooms, an IMAX cinema and an ice skating rink. Shop in toy stores and clothes outlets and, after picking up some bargains, dine in the food court. Join thousands of fans in gigs at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Take your kids to Star City, a theme park by the harbor with roller coasters, log flumes and more. For something more slow paced, tee off at Villamor Golf Course on the other side of the city. Resorts World offers casinos, restaurants, malls and cinemas to please a whole range of visitors.
Visit Pasay during their elongated Christmas season, from October through to February, when more attractions are open and the streets are lit up. Pasay is the home of Ninoy Aquino Airport, the main airport in Metro Manila. Fly here and make the exciting city of Pasay your first stop in the region.
