"Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."

The water was cut off on my second day, and they transferred me to another place up the street for the remainder of my stay. "This place is close to a lot of things. The only thing is that the pool is dirty and it’s loud at night. It’s close to the main road, so you’ll heard all the neighbor dogs barking at night. Our room had a foul bathroom smell- when we closed the bathroom door it was contained and wasn’t bad. Other than that it’s a great place to stay. The staff, the location is great. "

"This was such a delightful surprise after 2 weeks of travel. I'd stayed at other hospedajes closer to the lake, but wanted something a bit more quite, and this was definitely it! The rooms ate simple and beautiful. The shower was onenof the nicest I've seen, and it's the perfect budgetary point. The bed was also comfy and I had a great time talking with the staff. I will definitely be back!"
