Perfect in every way. The view and accommodations were beyond expectation. I stayed in the Villa Jade and Bambu. Highly recommend either.

Nisa and Rosa went way out of there way to make us feel comfortable. Rosa comes to your room to make a beautiful breakfast for you while you enjoy your lake view. The property is pristine and all the villas are unique but share a spectacular view.

Service provided by the General Manager was excellent. But, there were numerous areas for improvement at the property. Only those that are able to climb and descend dozens of stairs will be able to access the property and this is not previously disclosed. Issues such as clogged shower drains, broken cork screw, broken binoculars, warped door, no blackout curtains, etc., should not occur at a property of this level.

Jade is a beautiful cottage style comfy place to stay enjoying a beautiful view laying at the bed or while cooking and having breakfast or simply sipping a good coffee.

The perfect place to stay

Beautiful rooms and grounds with amazing indoor/outdoor living. Location was perfect in that it was close to Panajachel but private and quiet. We walked into town once but then ended up mostly taking tuc tucs (which were cheap) as the road was fairly busy and took about 20-30 minutes. Nisa was a wonderful host and arranged everything for us in a very timely manner (rides to town, massages, kayak, food delivery). The rest of the staff was wonderful too and happy to help us with anything we needed. This was the last 3 nights of a 10 day trip and it was the perfect place to end the stay as we could not have been happier.

Overall our stay at the Villas B’alam Ya was disappointing for the following reasons: The reception office was closed when we checked in. We had to try multiple phone numbers to get in touch with somebody to finally check us in. Upon checking in we were told that the previous occupant had messed up the key but it should still work. It did not work and in fact broke in half. We asked to have the key fixed and returned to us and it never was. We were unable to lock our villa for the entirety of our stay, which was extremely uncomfortable for two women traveling alone. The villas are super understaffed- the property manager is very sweet, but she does everything from reception to guest services and is not always around. Any time we wanted anything we had to ask for it via phone or text message and then wait for a response, which was usually answered late or not at all. When we wanted to leave the villas we needed to order transportation and hope that our request was received. Overall the place was a little run down- linens were stained and musty, windows and doors did not fully meet walls. This was really more of a family camp-like place than a resort. The price we paid for our stay here was double what we paid for a beautiful hotel in Antigua with far better conditions, ammenities and services. I would only recommend staying here for large groups with their own transportation and only if they were able to get a much better price than we paid ($160 per night for a queen bed)

The property itself is absolutely precious. It is right on the water, the villas are great, its very private... exactly what we were looking for. The management, however, was not great, which greatly effects the property itself as well. There are major updates that need to be made, there is never anyone in the reception, and it was nearly impossible to communicate with the hotel before arriving. Once we were there, communication was a little bit better, however, they were still absent. There was no check in where they gave us the information about the property, took our credit card info, etc... we were just shown to our room and left to figure it out. we had to ask other guests about how the property worked. Because they never took our cc info, after leaving we received a text asked for our cc number so they could charge us... As I said, overall, the place is precious, but they need new management and to update.
