Admire the Rococo and neoclassical architecture of this historic palace and then discover one of the finest collections of ceramics in Valencia.

Visit the Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas to admire the architecture of a historic Valencia building that partially dates back to the 15th century. Step inside the palace to explore the Museo Nacional de Cerámica González Martí, which houses one of Spain’s finest ceramic collections.

Originally built in Gothic style in the late 15th century when it was the residence of a noble Valencian family, the palace was redeveloped in the 18th and 19th centuries. On approaching the palace, stop to appreciate its facade which mixes elements of Rococo, neoclassical and Oriental architectural styles. Note also the gates of the grand Baroque-style entrance.

Enter via a small patio to the palace’s ground floor and the Courtyard of Carriages. Here you’ll find examples of the carriages and chariots used by Valencia’s aristocrats. Among these is La Carroza de la Ninfas, the chariot of the Marquis de Dos Aguas.

Walk up the staircase to the first floor and explore the palace’s rooms. The original décor and furnishings provide a glimpse into the aristocratic past of the palace. Don’t miss the large Ballroom, the Oriental design of the Chinese Room and a kitchen made almost entirely of ceramics.

In each of the rooms you’ll find displays of ceramics that belong to the palace’s museum. See how ceramics have evolved from eras such as the Iberian, Greek and Roman periods, to modern styles. Manuel González Martí, a local scholar and artist, created the museum in 1954 from his private collection of ceramics.

Located in Valencia’s Old Town, the Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas is a short walk from major city attractions, including the Central Market and Plaza de la Reina. Pay-and-display parking is available in streets surrounding the palace, but there are limited spaces. Public transportation and walking are more convenient options.

Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas is open from Tuesday to Sunday, except for select public holidays. Visit the museum’s official website for detailed opening times and information about days with free admission.
