"In general Good quality hotel! The term Boutique hotel is a bit overrated though, for this the buffet food and service at the meals is too average. "This is a tired somewhat rundown resort. It seems apparent to us that the manager is not willing to put any money into maintenance or any updates on this property. The food choices for breakfast were on such a shoestring budget it was almost insulting. Literally no cheese or dairy and the only meat were hot dog wieners. There was a sign on the Buffay one morning advertising chicken samosas but when I asked about them the server said “no… We didn’t make them“. The dartboard didn’t have any darts...

or a couple. It is situated in a first line from the ocean, literally one step away from the beach. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and kind, especially Madiba from the bar. Any issue we've had was taken seriously by the management and resolved immediately. "

"Absolutely amazing stay at Isaraya! Not enough words to describe the resort. The over water villa was magical, it was very spacious and had its own pool! The beach was immaculate with white sand and crystal clear water. There were sun loungers for us to use and a beach bar near the pool that delivered food and drinks. Both the restaurants had amazing food and the dinner buffet at Konokono restaurant was delicious. They also had local entertainment which was great. The staff were so friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Room service was very efficient as well. Overall we will never forget our stay here and hope to come back some day!"

"This is an amazing property to stay in Zanzibar. We were upgraded to the frangipani villa which was spacious and well appointed. The private pool was great. The main swimming pool is huge and doesn’t get too crowded. The food options at the main dining room were good with a lot of vegetarian options for breakfast and dinner. Beverage options are nice and reasonably priced. The complimentary fruits at mid morning and ice cream at mid afternoon around the pool area are a great touch. The staff is polite and extremely helpful. We had to see the onsite doctor as one of us wasn’t feeling too well one day. The staff promptly arranged for the doctor to arrive who was extremely helpful and thoughtful in his advice which we highly appreciated. The doctor didn’t charge us for his visit and medication even when we asked if he was sure. As has been discussed previously in other reviews, most beaches in Zanzibar have big tidal ranges and at low tide, the sea retreats by a lot. We didn’t swim on the beach for that reason and there’s also a lot of sea weed that the staff tries to clean every day. Nevertheless, the main and private swimming pools more than made up for it. There are a lot of monkeys around the resort and the staff warn you at the outset to keep the doors closed. It is advice that must be heeded to. The resort is family friendly. That’s great if you have kids of your own but if you don’t, it can feel a bit like school nursery during breakfast / dinner time. "
