The historical nature of the property is what first drew me to this bed and breakfast. It was built by the grandson of George Washington. The saving of it and the ca1914 house next to it was a noble task and well worth the effort. A fully furnished kitchen, clean bedroom and bath with a jet tub, porch with rocking chairs, and relative proximity of downtown shops and eating made this a great choice.

Wonderful place! Such a cute vibe. Nice rooms and facility, had jacuzzi tub in our room. Love the shared kitchen/cooking area (has pots and pans to use) and love that it has a fridge. Beds were very nice! James was wonderful host and greeter. Would come back again.

One of the most elegant properties we have stayed at in our 82 country travels. And the historical nature of the George Washington nephew’s family was very fascinating and awe-inspiring. The Victorian antique furniture and furnishings reminded us of our home! Thank you for sharing with us.

This is a small historical property. Charming.
Perfect for those who want to avoid the big corporate hotel chains and prefer a unique environment. The host is very accommodating and friendly.

Just OK. Pretty house, small room and bath. Guest house kitchen and common areas fabulous. Located next door to police station. Parking on street in area that raised concern re: safety.

Not so great
Posted 21 Aug 2024 on HotelsNo body there when we arrived to check in. The he explained how hotels.com doesn’t discribe the room properly as it has a bathroom but it’s in the hallway!! He swapped us out of the room and didn’t change us extra but he really didn’t want to. The room was very rustic and had mold in the shower. They also didn’t have a commercial washer and dryer and we can only assume that the comforter on the bed doesn’t get cleaned. We for sure will not stay here again. The entire place needs upkeeping

Every washer is chosen because it must have steam cycles. I verified that Hotels.com does list the bathroom as detached. Room 9 is very popular because it is on the first floor, near a 2 large fridges and guest kitchen and many couples prefer the detached bath for privacy. Also the marble and therapy tub in the bath. It is clear that James helped you choose a room, once on property. We can only assume you read the room descriptions, that are correct, when you booked, until you arrive and tell us you did not and we are happy to help make your stay comfortable, depending upon what is most desirable to you,
