Pacific Place

Don’t forget your credit card when you visit one of Hong Kong’s most tempting retail and culinary hotspots.

For high-end shopping and dining, it doesn’t come any better than ultra-chic Pacific Place in Hong Kong’s fashionable Admiralty district. Here you’ll find a retail and culinary paradise, with everything from huge department stores to specialist boutiques, gourmet restaurants to fast-food outlets waiting to part you from your plastic. The four-storey arcade opened in 1988 and was extensively renovated in 2007 under the meticulous eye of English designer Thomas Heatherwick, whose attention to detail is evident around every corner. The top three floors accommodate over 130 high-end shops selling fashions, accessories, luxury goods, cosmetics, electronics and sporting equipment. You’ll find most of the major European names here, including the world-famous Harvey Nichols department store. The ground floor is taken up by the Great Food Hall, a treasure trove of gourmet delights from all corners of the world, as well as tasty and unusual regional specialities. Grab a snack from one of the on-site cafés, or treat yourself with a table in the elegant dining room of one of the complex’s five-star hotels. The award-winning Nicholini’s in the Conrad Hong Kong has been regularly named Best Overseas Italian Restaurant by former Italian president Massimo D’Alema, who should know a thing or two about Italian cuisine! After you’ve shopped, wined and dined to your heart’s content, head for the AMC, one of the city’s most prestigious cinema complexes. In keeping with the luxurious style of Pacific Place, this will be no ordinary movie experience. Here you can watch the latest films from the comfort of spacious French-leather, stadium-style seats while nibbling on gourmet canapés washed down with fine wines or imported beers – the perfect end to a self-indulgent day.Pacific Place is easily reached by MTR there’s a direct link to Admiralty station.
