Be looked after well in Oudtshoorn
Posted 30 Mar 2020 on HotelsWe stayed one night at the Oakdene Guest House and wished we had stayed for two nights. The owners, Sonia and Daniel, were very welcoming and couldn’t have done anymore for us. Sonia cooks her own bread and cakes for guests. The smell and taste of both was fantastic. There is a swimming pool at the end of the long garden which was a great spot to unwind after a long drive.
We would recommend this guest house and definitely stay here again if we visit Oudtshoorn. This guest house is perfect for a stop over.

We had a wonderful stay at Oakdene. This lovely property dates from the mid 19th century and retains many original features. The owners have also retained the period atmosphere in the way they have beautifully furnished and decorated the house. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and they were happy to chat with us over breakfast, which was freshly prepared, delicious and set us up nicely for the day.
Oakdene is situated centrally within easy walking distance of some lovely restaurants and all the amenities you could need, and easy driving distance of attractions such as Highgate ostrich farm, the Cango caves, Buffelsdrift Game Lodge and so on.
We will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our stay so special.

We had a comfortable and relaxing stay at this wonderful guest house. Some of the best features were the incredibly spacious rooms, warm hospitality from the owners, a huge leafy garden with a pool to relax by, and excellent touches like freshly baked bread with breakfast. I hope to stay here again soon.

Great stopping place
Posted 23 Feb 2017
Pros: Oakdene is attractive and immaculately clean, plus there's a lovely backyard garden with a pool. Very refreshing after a long drive.
Cons: The only improvement I can think of would be to extend wifi to individual rooms.
Location: We stopped here on a drive back to Cape Town from Port Elizabeth. Our hostess pointed us to several great restaurants within walking distance.
We stopped at Oakdene overnight on a drive from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. The guesthouse room was spacious, well appointed and immaculate. After a long, hot drive, the beautiful backyard garden and pool were extremely welcome. Afterwards, we had dinner at a very good restaurant just a few blocks away and breakfast the next morning on the verandah. All in all, a very comfortable resting place.

Stop of on Garden Route
Posted 19 Nov 2014 on HotelsWe stayed for one night on a 3 week Garden Route Trip. The original room no 4 was very spacious and comfortable, unfortunately the bath leaked so we had to be moved. This was not an issue though, we where moved promptly. Point of note was room 4 had no shower. The room we were moved to had both so might be worth mentioning when booking. There are a few nice restaurants in walking distance and the owner also offered us a lift to another one he recommended.
