It’s good to have a budget hotel in such a wonderful location right on the coast. Very relaxing hotel with well priced food and drinks and nice atmosphere. A real Ghana experience. Wonderful people.

I loved the sound of the waves and the view of the ocean from ymy room.
The staff was kind, helpful, friendly and the service was excellent.
The accommodation is basic. The people who live outside of the Rising Phoenix compound are very poor but friendly!

Nice vibe, scenery, and staff. Hotel needs work.
Posted 11 Apr 2024 on HotelsI booked a week stay at this hotel. When I got there, my room was not ready. I was upgraded to a room with a bathroom and had to pay extra. I should not have had to pay for an upgrade considering the room I booked was not ready. The room was not clean and I had to request the room be cleaned. The room door was broken also. I was told it would be fixed that day, and two days passed and it was not fixed. The staff was kind. They were willing to help get things in place, but they should have been done in advance. The neighborhood is not the best either. My cab driver was concerned about leaving me there, but inside of the resort, it was pleasant. Taking a cab from the front was fine and getting dropped off there was fine also. There was music and a bar. The vibe was nice. Being able to overlook the ocean was nice, but the room really wasn't nice to stay in. I ended up not staying there at all. The cost was super affordable, but what you pay for is what you get. When I came back to get my things, I noticed a big wet stain on the bed as the roof leaked when it rained the night before. I was in room #3. The staff was very nice and helpful, but the hotel needs work.

Yes, what you pay for is what you get. We keep our prices low, perhaps too low. Then our ability to maintain the place well is limited. Having said that, you SHOULD NOT, if your story is right (I will check) ,have paid for an upgrade, and I will happily refund you that money. The low prices, the fierce storms, and the fact that everything metal (such as nails) rusts fast, are together factors that can lead to water getting through the roof. I thought we had checked roofs well enough before the rains started; sadly it seems not. I do wonder though to what extent you came to our place with an open mind. You say the neighborhood is not the best. Well, here is a story for you. I lodged at the same hotel (in room 3!) for some months before buying the place. At the time, I often said that one thing I like is that, as soon as I step out the gate, I experience Africa in all its beautiful rawness. I hope I don’t come over condescending saying that. It is not meant that way. I had at the time just come to Ghana from London, and it was the ‘rawness’ which made Ghana seem so much more alive than London. Having said all that, I do not wish to dodge responsibility here, so I am going to immediately restore something neglected: feedback forms for guests to use WHILE THEY ARE STAYING.As to you Jenelle, I hope you come back and give us another chance.

It's a cool place in a convenient location. The staff is polite, but you may not have running water during your stay.

Thanks. For a long time, there has been a general water shortage in Accra, that means low pressure. The situation is getting better, but is mot yet perfect.
