Spend your day shopping in a beautifully recreated pioneering village, where stores are housed in traditional timber buildings with an 18th-century aesthetic.

Travel back to the colonial era of New England with a trip to Olde Mistick Village. Browse dozens of shops in this quaint destination, which has the appearance and atmosphere of Connecticut in 1720. Modernity can also be found in these colorful timber houses, however. Olde Mistick Village hosts independent cinemas, stylish restaurants, artisan coffee shops and handicraft stores with products that are unique to this destination.

Stroll around the winding streets of the village to appreciate the old-world ambiance of the area. European settlers have lived in the Mystic region since the 1650s. By 1720 the town was flourishing. Olde Mistick Village is a recreation of that heyday, offering a glimpse into life in a bygone era.

Enjoy the charm of this colonial setting, stopping to admire details such as the waterwheel, the white-spired church or the pretty duck pond. The shaded paths are lined with benches and iron lamps, while many of the colorful buildings face blooming flower beds.

Hop between the different independent stores that are housed in the village. Maritime-themed souvenir stores, elegant jewelry makers and traditional toy stores are just a few of the highlights. There are around 60 stores here, many selling items that you can only find in Olde Mistick Village.

Spend your evening at one of the local restaurants, which are filled with character. Fresh seafood, perfectly prepared steaks and artisanal ice cream are just a few of the treats you can expect to enjoy.

Come back here throughout the year to experience different events in the village. In December, the paths and church glow during the Festival of Lights, while summer offers the Taste of Mystic food festival.

Olde Mistick Village is located just off the highway that runs along Connecticut’s coastline, north of Mystic’s town center. Drive here from Mystic Seaport in about 5 minutes or in less than 10 minutes from Mystic’s train station. Extensive parking facilities are available nearby. The village is open daily throughout the year and is completely free to explore.
