Before you wander inside the gallery take time to observe its façade. The traditional building has an old-fashioned sign, picturesque black street lanterns and wooden doors. As you walk into the building you’ll see an intimate and elegant gallery with leather chairs, exposed brick walls and beautiful lighting. Big wooden beams hold the ceiling and charming arches guide you through the rooms. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, enticing you to stroll around admiring the paintings hanging on the walls.
One of the main missions of the Old Town Gallery is to bring together the works of renowned international artists creating outstanding pieces in Mexico. Discover paintings by Jonn Einerssen, who uses oils to create works inspired by big natural sceneries of desert and sea. Look for the acrylics by Marilyn Hurst to see the powerful colors of Mexico. Also featured in the gallery, Jill Charuk’s paintings usually depict huge flowers and portraits, such as the ones of the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Every Thursday, from November to June, the art galleries of the district organize the Art Walk. This fun event takes place in the afternoon. Walk around the area to discover several art galleries in San José.
Find the Old Town Gallery in the heart of the Gallery district of the town. If you are coming from the neighboring town of Cabo San Lucas, take the highway and you’ll reach the area easily. Be aware that parking spaces are limited.
