Overnight visit in spring
Posted 10 Oct 2018 on HotelsA nice spot to stay if your in Ohakune, mid-way between a hostel and a hotel. Can be a little noisy but very comfortable and generally clean, depending on how busy it is and the time of day. Good price.

It was a great stay! I gave a call to the owner in the early morning to advised him we have got an extra traveler and we might arrive earlier than expected. They told me that we could sort it out when we arrive.
The accommodation is easy to find. We went to the snow mountain after leaving our belongings there and also made the payment for the extra traveler. Everything was smooth.
Also, the accommodation is very clean and have everything we need in the kitchen.

The owners are nice people. It is a shame that the communal areas (kitchen and bathrooms) were at times unclean and not wholly welcoming because of this. One morning someone had been sick all over the toilet and it was left for at least an hour. There were no staff to be found. I happened to bump into the owner randomly in the kitchen. He is a nice man and we had a good chat. There was always fresh fruit and tea, coffee and toast available. The atmosphere was pleasant enough. There is a pool table to use and TV in the lounge. The room was small with a double bed and a single bunkbed above it. There is a small sink in the room which is convenient. It was warm and cosy. There is a dry room which is a good touch. The backdoor is open all hours with noone monitoring who is coming and going. I felt this is not very secure. In saying that we had no issues.

Heidi was lovely, I spoke with her over the phone. She made the stay super easy.
The room was clean and tidy.

Very mediocre
Posted 9 Aug 2017 on HotelsMore like backpacker/hostel accommodation than pub/hotel accommodation. Shared bathroom and toilets. Old dated and permanent acccom for some ski lodge workers meant dirty dishes left everywhere.

I am sorry you had a less than pleasant experience, we have just repainted the whole wing and re-carpeted it. so outdated is perhaps abit unfair. On our website we sell the rooms as a shared bathroom - we have rooms with ensuites, which may have been better for this guest. I will have a word with the permanent guests to keep the kitchen tidy

Price a bit high on the weekends for what is offered. But when demand is high, I was willing to have a bed and somewhere warm. Showers should be updated. Hostess was awesome!

It was a very disappointing experience. We have mad

Pros: Location
Cons: All as above
Location: good location
It was a very disappointing experience. We have made a complaint with The Clyde and are in the process in waiting to hear from them again.
We initially complained as we were not impressed with the heating in the room and the standard of the bathroom. There was no heating in there nor an extraction fan. It was extremely slippery after a shower and freezing. There was a louvre window. The bathroom also had in its drawer the tools for screwing the handrail etc on the wall-also the MItre 10 bag with other bits in it to finish the room. So obviously not finished.
The bunk beds were loose and the heater in the room was sub standard. The second heater did not work at all. When we went to ask reception for another heater or more blankets there was no one manning reception. We have 3 year old twins and they were very cold and we could not shower them due to the lack of warmth in the room. Also there were no fire/smoke alarms nor a phone in the room.
When we went to leave & hand our key over there was a sign to go through to the Bar-but no one was aware of that arrangement in there either.
We had booked and paid for 2 nights but ended up staying 1 -due to the standard.
Our second complaint has been on the 20th July as our visa bill arrived & shows we have been been billed twice. -
1stly from 'Wot if '& then from 'The Clyde.'
We were very upset and annoyed with nearly everything.
