Room comfort insufficient

Posted 2 May 2019 on Hotels
Some facilities mentioned in this hotel were not available, but did not have an influence, as they were available close-by. As usual for the cheaper rooms of this old Sovyet style hotel, the isolation around the windows is bad, scotched, temperature and sometimes noice confort insufficient. For the same price, I stayed in better quality hotels, including breakfast, in smaller Ukrainian cities. Recommend not to pay in advance for this kind of hotels and cheaper rooms, and always choose the possibility of cancellation until arrival.

The first room was so small every time I tried to smile my teeth would touch the wall. I had to complain to Orbitz phone service to get a better room. I am in a wheelchair so this room was bigger but I could not get into the bathroom with it. it was difficult to get my chair to fit through the doors but it was a nice room until the back casters kept hitting the door facing and taring the paint and trim off the door jams. Their heater stopped working so I had a space heater to keep me warm. I was pleased that they had a discounted breakfast with a restaurant in the same building. I liked the staff, but had to pay $40 for the sheets and coverlet because I had diarrhea and had an accident while transferring to my wheelchair. I had only 2 Items that I used from the mini bar but was charged $4 for it anyway. Everyone was friendly but few could speak English well enough to make good communication. I was constantly using iTranslator to talk to them. The only way I will stay in this hotel is if they had a Handicapped accessible Room with grab bars in the bathroom to get in and out the tub or toilet! I would rate this hotel with 2.5 stars only!

A literal application of dirt cheap, and sleazy

Posted 7 Dec 2018 on Hotels
Horrendous even at £16 per night. Next to a strip club and offered condoms in the mini bar. Wold be quite socially responsible I suppose if (i) they weren't £3 each; and, (ii) anyone bothered to fill up the minibar with anything. Room was grubby. Bar was neglected and virtually empty. Barman virtually got into a fight with a customer (not me!) who became angry at being ignored. Refused to provide a kettle because it was 'hotel rules'. Actually the receptionist who wasn't allowed to provide the kettle, but was pleasant about it, was probably the nicest thing about the hotel. And wifi did work quite well.
