Iain and his family have a beautiful property just outside of Oban. We enjoyed exploring Oban, but really enjoyed hanging out on the property in the sunshine. The cottage was perfect for our family.

Four friends had a lovely stay here. There could have been a couple of extra mugs in the cottage but we had a great stay overall.

Family 2 night stay
Posted 19 Aug 2021 on HotelsAmazing hospitality from the initial phonecall on the morning of out arrival to our departure. The Garden Suite had everything we could have needed for our self catering stay, and it was spotless. Definitely recommend if visiting Oban. Also ate in the restaurant next door which was lovely.

Awful!!!!
Posted 2 Jul 2021 on HotelsWe booked this on the basis of its 4 star rating and the reviews. On arriving we were met by an elderly man who took us to what he thought was our accommodation. We were not sure it was but some parts of it convinced us that we were in the right place. The kitchen worktops were crumby and sticky. The cloth was old and stale. I found some antibacterial wipes and started to clean while my husband brought the bags in. The toilet smelled of urine and there was no hand wash. The shower cubicle was small and grubby. The bedding was clean but the rooms smelled of damp and the towels smelled rancid. The sofas were not inviting to sit on. Then we saw the dust on the furniture and decided at that point that we could not stay there. When we got home we emailed the owner explaining this and that her only recourse would be to refund our money but got no reply or apology. The previous 3 nights we spent in a b&b of the same rating but it was beautiful, spotless and covid aware. The contrast between that one and Hawthorn was night and day.

Absolutely fab, even in flooding Scotland! We stayed the 2 weeks that there was weather warnings for the whole of the UK. Did not want to leave

Nice B&B with welcoming host, lovely rural outlook. Good breakfast. Close to picturesque Oban.

A very well located property, within walking distance from the main town & the Inverness Castle.
The rooms are a bit small and we got stuck with a shared bath - which was a surprise for such an expensive property! But the facilities are well maintained and hygienic.

Thankyou for your response . it is not a shared bath it was a private bathroom for your use only with a bath and a shower

Beautiful country setting close to Oban and beach
Posted 5 Jul 2018
Pros: Location, spacious, clean
Cons: Internet/wifi was not working right, and was spotty.
Location: Walk to Tralee Bay beach, and it is just a short drive in to Oban. Western islands and hiking are also close by.
We stayed 3 nights in the Garden Cottage, which had lots of room for our family of four including a kitchen and living area. The hosts were lovely people, it was quiet and peaceful, there were sheep and highland cattle they keep right outside. There was a nice little restaurant on site with good food too!
