Day Spring Lodge is a great place to get the feel of suburban Tonga some of the culture of its people. There’s a lovely feel of community and you do feel safe here. There’s easy access to the kitchen and staff is super friendly. If you need a lot of quiet to sleep this probably isn’t the place for you as roosters and dogs and cars are frequently in the background. It’s about 3.5 k’s walk to the town which for me was quite doable and interesting and if you want to get a taxi, only pay seven dollars! I was ripped off twice by taxi drivers. There’s a nice seating area outside in the garden surrounded by banana and Papaya trees to relax or have breakfast. There is no pool.

I liked being out of the main town and experiencing ordinary Tongan life, the families the community. Staying at Day Spring Lodge enabled me to do this easily. They were very friendly and took me, as a single traveller, into their space and were super welcoming. I was able to cater for my own meals, rent a car and get all the information I needed to discover the ‘real’ Tonga. I have to add that breakfast was the best, sweet papaya, mouthwatering watermelon and fresh bananas, straight off the tree outside the door. 😋

Great owner and staff, very friendly .
Rooms dirty and mouldy .
Noisy as hell, with traffic outside and roosters, dogs and church bells clanging all night and at 4.30 am Sunday morning. Impossible to sleep here

Thank you very much for hosting my stay. I enjoyed every bit of it, I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Tonga. Staff was very kind, as a first time travelling back to Tonga after 25 years I am very impressed with how everything is.
Thank you very much I hope to come back to the kingdom again.
