"The quality and size of the “apartments” (they’re basically houses, it’s great) is phenomenal for the price. To have a private back deck, many air conditioners, a kitchen, a nice bathroom, FOUR sets of sliding doors.. it was great. Friendly cats run the grounds, par for the course in Europe. Parking is a little tight and it’s in a quaint area of the island but those very small “negatives” are so heavily outweighed by the friendliness of staff, 24 hour pool and big clean rooms that it’s barely...

"This place was amazing! Really nicely designed compound. The views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely stunning. The breakfast was delicious. We really enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and sauna. "Place was just as pictured. Clean. Ideal location. Comfiest beds we had in our 5 week vacation. Staff had limited English, but decent French (and significantly better than my Portuguese), so overall no difficulties communicating with them. They were very responsive on WhatsApp and willing to help with booking excusions, willing to provide information. Very happy with our stay (except for the weather, but can’t control when storms decide to pass by). "

"I had a lovely stay at Casa da Cisaltina. Fatima, the owner, made me feel right at home and was very helpful with information about things to do in the area and suggestions! The breakfast was delicious and included her homemade jams. There is a wonderful view out the backyard of the northside of the caldera. Added bonus is the parking on site - a car is definitely necessary in the Povocao area and eastern side of the island. "

"The owner is very nice and we were received in a very kind fashion. The house is fashionable and very cozy. The surroundings are just amazing. No need to worry about parking, since there is a parking spot right in front of the house, inside the property. We just loved it."

Beautiful hotel in beautiful gardens

"This is a beautiful hotel - like a 1930s ocean liner berthed in the most glorious gardens. Although the large thermal pool was closed for maintenance the smaller ' jacuzzi's and indoor pool made up for this. The breakfasts were really excellent with the best selection of pastries i have ever come across. We also ate in the Gardeners bar which was very nice indeed. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful"

"Lovely spot on the ocean. Interesting and beautiful property was worth exploring. Trail down to the rocky water edge. Old short castle like walls to support a previous vineyard! The desk gentleman is a descendent of a family vineyard (no longer in the family)! Accommodation was excellent. "

"We had an amazing stay at White from Jan 31st to Feb 4th. The service was excellent. We were provided with a mobile phone to communicate with the hotel staff when off the property. The included breakfasts were delicious. The ocean view from our room was stunning and the sound of the waves had us very relaxed."
