This hands-on museum tells the inspirational stories of famous recipients of the prestigious peace prize.

Alfred Nobel was the inventor of dynamite and the founder of the Nobel Peace Prize. This fascinating museum is dedicated to his story and those of some of the prize’s most famous winners, known as laureates. The latest state-of-the-art technologies have been used to bring the displays vividly to life.Your visit starts in the Nobel Chamber, where you can discover more about this wealthy philanthropist and his inspiration for establishing the Peace Prize. His life story is told through a giant interactive book which responds to hand gestures. Turn the virtual pages at your own pace to view the animated text and graphics in whichever order you choose.The Wall Papers is an interactive video wall which projects articles relating to all aspects of the Nobel Peace Prize and the laureates. Again, visitors can browse through more than 2,800 articles and hundreds of video clips to select the material that most interests them. Listen to an excerpt of Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I have a dream” speech and read about the work that got Barack Obama nominated.For many people, the Nobel Field is the highlight of their visit. This stunning installation of LCD screens portrays past winners displayed in a garden of fibre-optic lights. Read about your heroes and discover previously unknown pioneers of peace in this moving and informative tribute to human nature at its best.There are plenty of activities which younger members of the family will enjoy, including Mission: Peace!, an exciting adventure to find the world’s most important peace agent. Guided tours in English take place twice a day and are included in the ticket price, helping you to make the best use of your time in this unusual and inspiring museum.The Nobel Peace Center occupies a Victorian railway station in Oslo city centre and is on all the public transport networks.
