Camp Shawu Tents have a unique location in front of a watering hole that house Hippos, and see a string of animals come to hydrate like elephants, impalas, and giraffes....You can seat on your deck and enjoy the show. Our Safari Guide Sifiso, was AMAZING! He made the trip even more special.
The property lacks maintenance ...the pool was not maintained hence looked like a mosquito fest, the umbrellas were all broken hence no shade to sit out on the beautiful deck overlooking the watering hole, the doors of the main area were mostly out of service hence not allowing a proper breeze to flow through...The food was average. That said, you pay for the location and an amazing guide not for the property....

Lovely Lodge and great safari!
Posted 25 Nov 2019 on HotelsChris and the whole team @ Shishangeni could not have been more welcoming. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and a member of the family.
The Lodge itself is in a great location and the 'Big Five' are virtually on your doorstep. Our Ranger, that took us on the game drives was very knowledgable and did a fantastic job of positioning the vehicle for us to take photos and was on the radio with other Rangers in the park, keeping an eye out for something special - a Leopard in the tree with Breakfast was the first example!
Accommodation was nice and made us feel like we were on safari! Food is great and there was lots of it - tried Kudu for the first time!
In short, the whole trip was an amazing experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shishangeni - you won't be disappointed!

Rustic Elegance in Kruger
Posted 22 Jan 2017
Pros: The vibe, the view, the staff
Cons: Water heater
Location: Kruger game viewing
This is a lovely, albeit rustic lodging experience in the SE corner of Kruger. Staff is excellent, food is good, and the room is comfortable. Game viewing was quite good, with multiple viewings of all of the big 5. Staff are extremely accommodating and the lodge and its rooms have a lovely view. The water heater in our room was a little inconsitent, however.

First Kruger Park experience
Posted 8 Jan 2016 on HotelsIncredible diversity of wildlife daily coming to drink water and cool down in front of the lodge.
Hippos, zebras, wildebeests, kudus, impalas, baboons, jackals, hyenas, crocodiles, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos and lions while standing in the deck of the bungalow.
Also good for bird watching: eagles, vultures, herons and storks.
And the safaris were awesome: leopard, cheetahs, wild dogs and one buffalo giving birth.
Good knowledge and accurate communications between rangers.
