Disappointing/Outdated

Pros: Good Wifi
Cons: Place needs updating.
Location: 1km from train station
Big C supermarket 45 min walk
This hotel has not updated their details. We arrived late at night by train-purely booking this place as it was 100m from the train station. Wrong. The hotel is now 1KM from the train station as the station moved two years ago. The description also states 24 hour check in. Wrong. We were greeted by metal shutters and a annoyed owner. The description also states the staff speak English. Wrong!
We didn't feel welcome here and the rooms were dated, dusty and uncomfortable.

No Canh Dieu in Ninh Binh

The staff were nice but the hotel isn't that great
Posted 24 Dec 2016This hotel was not the best hotel. The staff were nice but the hotel was not that great. I know that it was on the cheaper end of hotels in this area but it was kinda terrible. My room was literally 10 feet from the train tracks and the train runs at night. The bed wasn't comfortable and was really hard. The room was run down but I was ok with that. The staff were nice and went out of their way but I feel that your money could be better spent elsewhere.

Breakfast good, dead mouse not so good...

Pros: The breakfast and the morning staff were lovely. We showed up last minute due to a disappointing situation at a different hotel, tam coc rice fields resort. I would stay at this hotel over that cash grab, non caring place any day.
Cons: The place is pretty rundown and is right next to a train track which is pretty noisy. Saw a dead mouse in the hall on the way to breakfast.
Location: Amazing sights in the area!!

Perfect for a one night stay
Posted 4 Oct 2016 on HotelsHotel owner was wonderful and friendly. Provided us with a free breakfast even though it wasn't advertised. Owner knew the local are and gave great directions. Hotel was perfect for the price, we just wanted a cheap one nighter so we could get up early for the boat ride. Be aware there are train tracks nearby bUT the trains did not blow their horns after 11 and the trains are only 5-6 cars long so they go past quickly. Good location.

Can do at Canh Dieu!

Very kindly let us stay late checkout to catch the late train.
Also free upgrade, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by.

Dirty and damp - avoid!!
Posted 14 Mar 2016The first room we checked in to was very damp and had mouse droppings on the bed. We asked to move rooms and although the second room was not damp the bedside cabinet was full of mouse droppings and cockroaches. We ended up changing to a new hotel altogether as we were not happy to stay here. I would highly recommend The Vancouver Hotel instead, definitely worth the extra money!!

Good, but inaccurate listing
Posted 29 Feb 2016 on HotelsThis is a nice, family run hotel with friendly and straight-forwards staff. Breakfast is nice.
We rented a scooter from the hotel, and they were very helpful with ideas for what to do.
The advert is misleading - the mattress is far from memory foam, there was no mini-bar, the tv was not HD, etc.
The hotel was still worth the money, but I think the listing should be changed to make it accurate.
