"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ootaki and would definitely return. The hotel is very traditional and gives you a real insight into traditional Japanese culture. Although the staff had limited English, this was not a problem for us and they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The hotel has lots of freebies as part of their service including combs, hairbrushes, shower caps, razors etc. The onsen was very relaxing and the hotel was clean. "

"This was a lovely hotel and out of the hustle and bustle of Nikko. It doesn’t have food but there is a shared kitchen you can use and refrigerators in the rooms. The room was very spacious and had a window seat."

"The staff are wonderful, the food is delicious and the rooms are comfortable, with excellent views of Nikko. Definitely take the shuttle from the subway if you can, I made the mistake of walking as it wasn’t that long, but the last stretch is a very steep hill"
