Was good value for what I paid, clean and comfortable with friendly staff

Staff were very helpful and rooms neat and tidy.
Bathroom fittings were old and balcony needed replacing.
Parking out the front was at a premium.
Hotel was within short walking distance to restaurants and beach.

Good basic room, cleaned everyday and good value for money. Check in very quick and pleasant. In a great location for walking into town or for the beach

Door locks were faulty no parking generally clean taps were on back to front hot was on left side instead of right side

Hello Dennis, Thank you for taking the time to leave your experience. We are sorry to hear you had problems with your door lock this has never been brought to our attention before. If you need assistance please do call reception to give us a chance to fix a problem as soon as it arises. Regarding parking to do not state we have any due to having a small carpark on-site which we allow guests to use free of charge on a first come first serve basis. If our car park is full there is free street parking to the right of the hotel as well as a paid carpark opposite which always has availability. We hope see you again soon.

Basic hotel room but clean and tidy, just old building room had creaky floorboards and walls very thin could hear next door

Disappointing stay
Posted 20 Aug 2024 on HotelsCheck in went smoothly. However we had to have my grandsons room changed as there was a terrible smell in the room. They did move him to a different room straight away. The room was much nicer and ensuite was much cleaner. Our second room was small but bed was comfy and very clean bedding. It got very hot in the room, making it difficult to sleep. There was a small TV which had no signal. Tried retuning but did not work. Reported it to reception on first day of our stay, then also on 2nd day. It was eventually fixed on the 3rd day and we were leaving the next day. Their excuse was that there was no maintenance staff in. There were some nice little touches such as biscuits, tea, coffee and two bottles of water. There were small shower gel, shampoo and small soap. They did clean rooms everyday which was good. The parking was non existent for us. It was first come so we had no chance especially if you used your car in the day. There was parking available across the road of the hotel, which cost £15.50 for 24 hours. When selecting the hotel, it states parking available but doesn’t tell you there is only a few available spaces. I did ask the receptionist about this, should it be advertised as limited parking. I was told hotels.com should not advise parking. There is building work next door to the hotel which woke us up early. The dining area had only a few tables in, the breakfast was average but there was a very nice lady making sure you had all you needed. Overall disappointing!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention we have managed to deep clean that room and that has been fixed. We are happy to hear the rooms were clean and comfortable for you during your stay.We are sorry to hear the rooms were hot for you during your stay we had extremely hot weather during the dates you were down and we weren't able to purchase any fans due to everywhere selling out. This is something we can look into for next summer. Regarding the signal the whole of Newquay struggled with TV & phone service due to the amount of people around during your visit we are sorry about this but this isn't something we can fix on-site. August is extremely busy and Newquay can get overwhelmed and lose service. We are hoping Newquay can install more masks for next year to deal with the demand of people coming here. We apologise for the inconvenience. We are happy to hear you were pleased with the daily housekeeping and the refills of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits, water, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. Regarding parking, we understand your frustration but we do state online we have very limited parking. We do not reserve parking spaces as we feel this is unfair to all guests. It is a first come first serve. Otherwise, like you have stated there is a paid car park over the road which always has availability. Hotel.com is run by Expedia and not by us we cannot control information that isn't put out by us. We always ask guests to contact is directly for the most up-to-date information or look on our own website or social media pages. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the builders but the building site is not owned by us and will be done with is work hopefully by the end of this year. We cannot control this as it isn't part of the hotel.We are happy to hear the service in the dining room was up to your standard and that you enjoyed the food. We will pass over comments about adding more tables. We hope we can improve on your next visit. Kind Regards

Staff where very friendly and helpful but we ran into a few problems from the get go. No parking outside as it was first come first serve. So that inconveniented us as we had to spend time looking for somwhere to park. Then the tv was very tempramental so we asked for new batteries but u still couldn't turn channels or even turn it on without pointing it in every direction possible to get it to work. The bed moved around and wasnt stable. The worst part was being woken up to work men walking around on the scaffolding banging bits of wood, talking diggers starting up very early in the morning. We didnt get hardly any sleep. We were so tired we didnt stop for breakfast we just left and went home. They should warn guests thst there is construction going on and its not guaranteed parking. We wont be visiting again.
