As it was wintertime, the hotel didn't open until 5:30, which was the only downside. Otherwise a lovely hotel in a lovely tiny village, with small but good rooms. The pub/restaurant served excellent food (I had fajitas, which was very tasty) and breakfast (scrambled eggs with smoked salmon in my case) was lovely. I was there for work at RAL and this is much much much better than Ridgeway House!!!

Okay, but not brilliant
Service was fine and breakfast was okay. Bedroom was fairly basic. Bed was comfortable enough, and radiator was able to get the room nice and cosy although it was cold outside. The wardrobe was free-standing and a bit shonky though - the whole thing wobbled when the wardrobe door was slid shut.
Biggest issue for us was the shower. It was a corner shower without its own light and the nearest ceiling light was not right outside the shower door but a few feet away so the shower was very dark, and also had no shelf or ledge for soap. My husband warned me it took a while to warm up for his morning shower so I turned it on in the evening and waited. After 10 minutes the water had only reach tepid for my evening shower and once I was in it took another ten to achieve any degree of something that could almost be called warming. The shower drain also didn’t drain properly and the stall, while clean at first glance, didn’t seem very clean on closer inspection - presumably because there’s not enough light in the shower cubicle to see to get it pristine.
Pictures of other rooms look better on the website so maybe we were just unlucky. It was fine for a couple of nights and the pub is nice, but it could have been better.
Stayed here for 2 days due to working in the area. From the moment I arrived,(a bit late and frazzled) I was made to feel welcome and relaxed, offered help with my bags and a drink at the bar.
Food was lovely and well priced and the cooked to order breakfast great.
I have had occasion to stay locally on many occasions but this was my first visit.
I would like to thank all the team for their friendliness and professionalism, it was a lesson in hospitality.
I will definitely be back if there is availability next time I'm around the area.
Mark and the staff made us feel very welcome, we thought we would miss the evening meal due to a commitment but they said they would make sure that we could get food when we got back, which was great.
Very helpful and friendly.
I would stay there again.
