Sunbathe on the beautiful unspoiled white beaches and admire the fascinating architectural gems in the cities of this small state.

Negeri Sembilan has beach towns along the coast, cities with royal palaces and a culture with its own delightful cuisine. Having belonged to several indigenous tribes, it is now fast developing into a modern, cosmopolitan region. Visit the various churches, museums and ports to learn about the past and present here.

Get an insight into the state’s culture and general atmosphere with a stay in the capital of Seremban. Gaze up at the horn-shaped roofs of the Minangkabau structures, as you note the intriguing architecture here. North of the city center is the Taman Seni Budaya Negeri Sembilan cultural park, which displays many of these spiky buildings.

Head to one of the many shopping malls around the city, such as the Terminal One Shopping Centre. These urban centers contain many restaurants serving regional delicacies, including the Seremban siew pau pastry filled with chicken or pork.

Travel east for about 20 miles (30 kilometers) to reach the regal town of Seri Menanti. Its highlight is the Royal Museum, which is housed in a former palace. Wander through the surrounding town and attend the festivities that include music and the iconic candle dance of the locals.

Enjoy the year-round warm weather in this tropical zone with a trip to one of the many beaches along the coast in Port Dickson. This town is known as PD by the locals. Enjoy the watersports options and enter the Tanjung Tuan Lighthouse at Cape Rachado for panoramic views of the Malacca Strait.

The state of Negeri Sembilan is just south of Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur in the southwestern part of the country. Fly to the capital’s airport and get to Negeri Sembilan by bus or rail. You can also rent a car to drive on the well-paved roads. Note that the wet season is from April to November.

Negeri Sembilan has a rich history of indigenous cultures and a promising future as a popular vacation hotspot.
