A very special hotel for a pilgrim visitor
Posted 14 Sep 2018
Pros: the hospitality, the location, the building, the staff
Cons: This is not 100% perfection, but for me coming to the home town of Jesus as a pilgrim, this was just right.
Location: a pilgrim is not a tourist - his/her role is to immerse themselves in the mystery of Christ whom they encounter here in Nazareth
Positioned on top of a hill directly overlooking the sanctuary of Nazareth, in a building complex that was once a convent, St Gabriel's is the antithesis of the boring, purely functional, lonely hotel, which tend to be the norm. As a pilgrim this for me is wonderful place. Whatever the inconvenience of getting here, with the long steep trek up the hill, whatever the lack of perfection & luxury about the place - who cares? I'm on pilgrimage. This is Nazareth, not Las Vagas. It is the home town of Holy Family, of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, where Christ lived & worked for nearly 30 years in total obscurity, in the backroom of a workshop. At night, when I look down on the great Basilica all lit up from my bedroom window, knowing that this is the very spot where the message of salvation was first announced by the Angel, this is priceless!

Gorgous looking church building
Posted 29 Apr 2018 on HotelsOld Catholic church building was converted into a hotel but is getting deteriorated and needs a major repair everywhere. Bathroom is terrible and smells bad. After all, it has a wonderful view of Old Nazareth.

Trop vieillot
