Location, staff, facilities are excellent. Stayed in Japanese room was brilliant. Only downside was a little aged and as a municipal building labels on everything. But the best value for money hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

As you mentioned, the old building was renovated to the hotel which is operated by Nara prefectural government in order to welcome lots of foreign guests on the globe. Sadly, many tourists briefly visit Nara, and stay in other areas like Osaka or Kyoto. So, we hope we can make some opportunities to know Nara deeply. Our hotel is run with an unique theme. That's letting people know lots attractive points of Nara, and feeling Japanese culture closer so that people feel comfortable staying in Nara. Therefore, you could see labels in mainly English and Chinese, and our staff can speak either English, Chinese or Korean at least, offer Japanese cultural activities. touristy but not in a bad way. refreshing from the local homogenous flow. lots of different cultures an races merging. beware of deer poop *)

Japanese room was a cool experience. Very close to deer park. Can buy the deer crackers at convenience store downstairs. Cosplay was fun. Origami folding was great too

I would say that our communal bath is foreigner friendly because everyone even with tattoos can use, and we give the guests the explanation paper of Japanese etiquette about taking a communal bath if they would love to know. Also we hope that the guests feel free to ask the staff about the Japanese culture because every staff can speak either English or Chinese and we're happy to help you feel Japanese culture closer. Staff helped us to get a refund from expedia, sleeping on the floor was very challenging for myself, girl friend was fine but we decided to leave. Staff was incredibly helpful, would recommend to any traveller.

We use typical Japanese futon mattresses in Japanese style room, however, some of our foreign guests might feel uncomfortable to sleep with the mattress due to the thinner mattress compared to mattress for the bed. We felt sorry for your experience, and completely understood your thoughts because the good health condition is necessary for your joyful travel. Just in case, we have Western Style rooms as well, so please have a try if you should have any chance to stay in the hotel in the near future. Please have a fun in Japan. Have a beautiful day. Nothing compares for the value. Absolutely incredible people. Amazing staff. You will not be disappointed. I'm flabbergast at the quality to price ratio. You will have walking access to everything. This venue is incredible.
